Set of Six Pictoral History of the Second World War with Holder

Set of Six (5 fit in holder, not sure why there's an odd number) books printed in 1946. This set of books are in pretty good shape for being so old, some fading. The black and white photos depict the war while it was happening, there are a few early color pics. My great grandfather served in WWII, but I have no other provenance to connect him to this specific set, other than it sat at my parent's house for 50+ years. Many of the photos are graphic, portraying the magnitude of the event, be prepared for that. The shelf, or holder, could be bakelite - some sort of plastic material. There is a small crack on the underside (see photos) but doesn't compromise the appearance or functionality. The sixth book fits under the holder. Binding says Wise & Co. They're old books, they have charm. Patina. Solemn topic. Heavy, eighteen pounds.
