15" large vintage Chinese solid brass & carved white cinnabar lacquer faux ivory vase. While traditional cinnabar is a red lacquer made using mercury sulfide, this "white cinnabar" refers to carved white lacquer or resin, often made to mimic ivory. This type of vase is known for its intricate designs, often featuring landscapes, figures, and floral patterns as this beautiful vase depicts. This vase is made of a heavy solid brass with the ornately carved, cream-colored cinnabar lacquer on top. It is rare to find a vase of this style created on a brass form! Use as intended or just as a pretty display piece.
The vase is in very good vintage condition with no cracks or major chips noted. The background of the scene on one side is darker than the scene on the other side, but it only lends to its vintage charm! Please see pictures for details.
The vase measures approximately 15" high x 7" at its widest point. The top and bottom both measure about 5" wide.
