Social Media Marketing

by Adheeth Ibrahim

Facebook now lets you tag Pages in your Photos. This would be a great feature with lots of advantages and disadvantages. This feature should create a better marketing reach for the brands in an effort to increase their fan base and also to track conversations that are happening in personal profiles (albums) which are related to the brand.

Eg: I get a brand new Levis Jeans and I upload a picture of me wearing it and tag the Levis Jeans to the photo.

Facebook Tag ur friends

Considering the fact that it can trigger a lot of tag spam, Facebook has given the option to admins to untag from photos. The tagged photos will not be visible on the wall instead they will appear in a new tab on the page.

When does a Facebook post become obsolete?

Ever wondered what is the life of a Facebook Page update / post? In a new research conducted by Visibli, they have concluded that the Facebook posts(updates) receive 50% of their Likes within the first 1 hour 20 minutes of being published, 80% within the first 7 hours, and 95% within the first 22 hours.

This leaves us with an important question. How frequently brands should brands update their page so as to get maximum likes and engagement? I strongly feel a social media agency managing a facebook page has to typically update a page every 6-7 hours. This would ensure us that the content is fresh on the page and we can engage more fans in the next 7 hours.

Visibly has also published a detailed Facebook Fan engagement report here.
