It’s been ages since i did a post here. I was busy with work and also i moved my domain to a new Host. Now adheeth.com is hosted with Godaddy. This was the first time i did a Domain transfer. Believe me i took the risk of Moving the domain on the last day of when it was getting expired(guys it’s pretty risky).
Procedure for Domain Transfer using Godaddy
First Step : Goto Godaddy Domain Transfer Page and give the domain name which you want to transfer and then proceed to checkout (payment).
Eg: You need to transfer Domain.com from ABC host to Godaddy and once you are done with the checkout for tranfering Domain.com to godaddy you will recieve a email from godaddy with transaction id and security code.
Second Step : Once the payment has been made, you have to goto godaddy domains manage page -> Pending transfer Link -> Choose the domain.
Eg: Here you choose the domain name as Domain.com as we are trying to tranfer that domain name
Third Step : Click the Authorization button and select Begin Transfer Authorization from the list. The Authorization button is located in the right corner of the toolbar.
Fourth Step : In the Transfer Authorization Page enter your transaction id and security code you have recieved via Email.
Fifth Step : You also need to enter a Authorization code which you will get from your earlier registrar. This autorization code can be got from the domain control panel of the earlier host. It will also be called Domain Secret. You can check for that for authorization code for your domain in the domain cpanel. If there is no Domain secret set. Set a domain secret and use that as your Authorization code.
Sixth Step : The transfer has been initiated and will only be completed once your Old registrar approves. Normally this takes 5 days. A mail will be sent by the old registrar to your domain admin email address saying about the same.
Seventh step: Once the Old registrar Approves the domain transfer will proceed and will be completed and you will be notified by godaddy by Email.
Note: Your domain should be set to Unlock Mode to initiate a domain transfer.
Hope this just gives an idea to people who are looking forward to do domain transfers.
The domain transfer will only take place if you have passed the 60 day mark with the current registrar meaning with the current registrar after registration , 60 days has to be over before you can do a domain transfer.
I hope all these information put some light
Paid Paragraph
If you want to design and host your site, you will have to look for much more than a regular domain name registration. A usual web hosting service will not be useful in this context. You can go through various domain registration faq before finalizing one. But ideally you should stick to domain name rules before applying for domain registration. Very few web hosting services will be able to offer all this.
